My domain changed from .org .com to .gov. What do I need to do?
Changing your domain to .GOV (from .com, .org, etc.) is simple but there are a few things to consider when migrating OnBoardGOV.
The new domain can be updated immediately in OnBoardGOV. However, the following items need attention first:
- Municipal Admin accounts and their associated email addresses must be updated by ClerkBase staff. Accounts for Municipal Users can be updated by Municipal Admins.
- Website links within your municipal webpages must be updated to the new domain name. (IT may have forwarding enabled so this step may not be necessary immediately.)
- Bookmarks, desktop icons, taskbar, and other access methods used by internal users must be updated.
- IT has created a new CNAME record for onboard (pointing to dns.clerkbase.com) on the new domain.
- Create New firewall rule(s) similar to the current one to allow access to internal users.
It is best to coordinate the change to municipal website links and the main OnBoardGOV site so they are done simultaneously to avoid downtime or links that do not work. OnBoardGOV support staff can change the domain and switch it back if errors occur.
