Some of our seats have been changed from a calculated term to a life term
Some of our seats in a couple of our boards/commissions have been changed from a calculated term to a life term How can I change the seat metrics without losing all of the previous history?
Because you cannot change the term type on a seat if you need to change it to a life term you will have to recreate the seat. However, you can still retain the seat history on the board.
- First thing you would do is to create the new life term seat with the same information as the seat you are looking to change (in this case Seat 1) only this time you choose Life Term and add the date of this new term under term seed date:
- Then on the previous Seat 1 you will vacate the seat. Make sure that the end date is on or before the term seed date of the new life term seat.
- When in the new Seat 1 you will fill the seat with either the same person or whoever is taking that seat going forward.
- Now go back to the old Seat 1 and choose edit seat and change the type to "Old Seat 1", "Prior Seat 1" or whatever you choose by clicking on the blue New+ button on the right.
- Now in the board choose "Disable Seat" from the actions drop down menu for Old Seat 1
- The old seat is now disabled and no longer shows on your manage board page.
But in the seat history tab you will see the seat history of the previous seat. This will also be shown on the public side as well.
